Rangers manager Mark Warburton believes the Gers are now truly prepared to take their place back at the top of Scottish football, dubbing them "primed and ready".

Warburton has led Rangers to a remarkable run of eight games and eight wins this season so far, putting the Ibrox outfit in pole position to push forward and win the Scottish Championship along with enjoying good runs in the cup competitions.

Hopes around Ibrox are now high that Rangers can not just win promotion to the Scottish Premiership, but start to quickly challenge Celtic at the summit of the game, renewing an old rivalry.

And Warburton senses a club ready to kick on and do just that, having been fully briefed on Rangers' turmoil by his assistant, club legend David Weir.

He told Rangers TV: "[Assistant] David Weir informed me long before I took over of the size of the club, the expectation, and the period of turmoil the club has gone through and where they are now.

"We sense very much the club is primed and ready.

"The supporters are desperate to see the club back where it belongs, and with the squad of players we have now, we are in good shape.

"Getting back to that responsibility, they players recognise what they have and the job they have to do for the fans, but they are going to enjoy it, relish it, and hopefully win that Championship", the former Brentford manager added.

Rangers are next in action this coming Saturday when they host Raith Rovers at Ibrox.
