Real Madrid manager Rafael Benitez has heaped praise on summer signing Mateo Kovacic, saying that the player possesses great quality and has a dynamic style of play.
Kovacic was heavily linked with a move to Liverpool earlier this summer, but he ended up at the Santiago Bernabeu as Inter Milan sold the highly-rated midfielder.
The Croatia international was expected to be a back-up option in Los Blancos’ midfield, but so far he has featured in every single match for the Spanish giants and has impressed all and sundry with his displays.
Benitez gave the youngster the first start of his Real Madrid career last night against Athletic Bilbao, in a match that ended 2-1 in favour of the Spanish capital outfit, and the youngster was again impressive running the show from the midfield.
The former Napoli boss has praised the 21-year-old, adding that he was well aware of his quality, having seen him at close quarters during his stint in Italian football.
