Jurgen Klopp feels the Premier League is one of the most testing leagues in the world but has indicated that he will work hard to turn Liverpool into one of the contenders for the title.

Yesterday, the 48-year-old German was appointed the Liverpool manager, replacing Brendan Rodgers who was sacked following their 1-1 draw at Everton on Sunday.

While Liverpool have not won the league title in more than two decades, the fans still crave a title charge and Klopp admits that he needs to grow the team to match the expectations of the fans.

He admits that the Premier League is one of the most competitive leagues in the world but he stressed that Liverpool need to develop to again become one of the top contenders.

"The Premier League is one of the most difficult leagues in the world”, Klopp said in a press conference.

“Only one can be the champion but five, six or seven clubs could be. We have to develop.”

He stressed that he is not worried about the outcome of the league this season and is only concentrating on the football they will play, which will help them to gain the trust of the Liverpool fans.

"This is a good moment. It is not important who is the winner of the Premier League, only that we play our own game and feel the confidence and trust of the people.

“We have to change from doubters to believers."
