Leeds United legend Eddie Gray says he would rather Huddersfield Town had put new boss David Wagner in charge for tomorrow's local derby against the Whites, as he believes caretaker Mark Lillis will have his players up for the task.
Former Borussia Dortmund Under-23 boss Wagner has been appointed as Huddersfield manager following the sacking of Chris Powell, but he will only take the reins on Monday and will watch tomorrow's game from the stands.
Academy boss Lillis will be in the dugout for Huddersfield and Gray makes no bones about the fact he would rather have Wagner in charge.
The Leeds legend believes Lillis will be desperate for his side to put the Whites to the sword and will wind his players up for the occasion.
"I'd be more confident of winning the game if the new manager was actually in charge", Gray said on LUTV.

"But with the boy Lillis in charge….he's a die hard Huddersfield man.
"He'll not like Leeds.
"I'm not saying he'll dislike the club, but he'll not like Leeds beating Huddersfield.
"I think he'll wind them up for the game because he's that type anyway."
And Gray believes that while Lillis will understand the importance of the local derby, Wagner would have been blissfully ignorant.
"I think that's in their favour, especially for this one game against Leeds, because if the new guy comes in and he's taking charge of the team, he's no idea what it means to Leeds and Huddersfield fans to win this game.
"Mark Lillis does", the Leeds legend added.
