Chelsea goalkeeper Asmir Begovic has revealed that the Blues squad are determined to get their season back on track as soon as possible.

While the Blues’ win over Dynamo Kyiv in midweek released some of the suffocating pressure they found themselves in after they lost to Liverpool last weekend, Chelsea are aware that things still need to improve on the domestic front.

The Premier League champions have made a mess of their title defence until now and after collecting just eleven points from as many games, Jose Mourinho feels even Champions League football next season is not guaranteed.

Begovic admits that the players are disappointed as they have set high standards for themselves and are aware that they have performed nowhere close to their potential this season.

He insisted that there is real determination within the squad to turn things around at Stamford Bridge and feels they only need to put together a run of wins to climb up the table.

Begovic told the club’s official website: “We set high standards and we have high expectations of ourselves in the dressing room so it’s not been easy.

“On the other hand though there is a huge determination to turn things round, work through this tough time and work it out in the future.

“We are going step by step, game by game, and it’s about putting a run of wins together. We can get back up that table quickly.”

Chelsea are currently 15th in the league table and will travel to the Britannia Stadium to take on Stoke City later today.

They will be without their manager as Mourinho will be serving his one-match stadium ban, handed out by the FA for his conduct last month at West Ham.
