Steve Evans is baffled by why Mirco Antenucci was not a regular starter under previous Leeds United head coach Uwe Rosler.
Antenucci hit a rich vein of goalscoring form last term, but was then involved in an off the pitch saga when it was suggested former head coach Neil Redfearn had been told not to pick him to avoid him reaching a certain number of goals to earn a contract extension.
For Rosler, playing one up front was the name of the game and the German preferred summer signing Chris Wood, meaning Antenucci was relegated to substitute appearances.
Evans though prefers to play with two up front and has had no hesitation in playing Antenucci alongside Wood.
Antenucci scored in Leeds' 3-0 win over Huddersfield Town at the weekend and Evans does not understand how any boss at Elland Road could leave him out of the team.

"I can't believe when you watch him at close quarters and you work with him every day why Mirco's not been in the team", Evans told a press conference.
"I just can't understand it and I don't wish to understand it because it was not my issue before.
"But I look at how he has intelligence in his runs, the quality of his finishing, I look at what a complete professional he is", the Scot added.
Antenucci is likely to be involved for Leeds on Friday night when they take on Wycombe Wanderers in a friendly at Adams Park.
