Leeds United legend Tony Yeboah has picked out his stunning strike against Liverpool as his favourite from his time at Elland Road, as he was keen to impress John Barnes and Ian Rush.
Yeboah scored another memorable goal, against Wimbledon in 1995, which was voted the best Premier League goal ever. But it is not the former striker's favourite – that came against Liverpool in the same year, occuring on 21st August, 1995.
The 49-year-old says he was told by his team-mates of the importance of beating Liverpool due to Leeds not having done so for some time. But Yeboah also had another reason to turn on the style against the Reds.
Indeed, Liverpool veterans Barnes and Rush were Yeboah's idols and he was keen to prove he belonged on the same pitch as the pair.
Yeboah told the LUFC Foundation, when asked whether the Liverpool or Wimbledon strike was his best: "Mine is against Liverpool.

"The tension in the game was very, very high. Before the game some of the players came to me and they were telling me it was a long time since we've beaten Liverpool, so we have to go all out.
"And I said this game is going to be very tough.
"So on the pitch I saw my idols like Ian Rush, John Barnes, yes, I said wow, they are my heroes.
"So I said to myself I have to show something to them today, show I am also a good player.
"At the end of the game I was so happy. The support Leeds fans gave in the stadium was electrifying.
"And it was the only goal in the game. So it's not only my goal, but the supporters and the players before the game were determined to beat Liverpool."
Yeboah joined Leeds in 1995, but remained with the Whites only a little over two years before heading to German outfit Hamburg.
