Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has claimed that he won’t ask for more money from the board in the January transfer window.

The Blues have made the worst start to a Premier League title defence ever and are currently languishing in 16th in the league table on 11 points.

Most of their top performers from last season’s league winning side have been a shadow of their former selves and have performed well below their standards, which has contributed to their dire form this term.

Even some of their summer signings have failed to hit the ground running and there is speculation that Mourinho will look to add reinforcements to his squad in January for the second half of their campaign.

However, the Chelsea boss rubbished the rumours and insisted that he won’t ask for any money from the board in the January transfer window.

He stressed that he is happy with his squad and is also not planning to sell any of his players in the winter window.

The Chelsea manager said in a press conference: “I will not ask for any change from the board in January.

“I am happy with the players; I don’t need to clean the dressing room, as has been reported, so I won’t ask for more money.”

Chelsea have reportedly clinched a deal to sign Argentinean forward Jonathan Calleri from Boca Juniors, but Mourinho's words cast doubt on when he may arrive.
