Young goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic has revealed that he has terminated his contract with Manchester United and joined Polish outfit Lechia.

Manchester United snapped up the teenage goalkeeper from FK Vojvodina last year, but he was immediately loaned out to his former side for the rest of the season.

The 18-year-old was part of the Serbia squad that won the Under-20 World Cup earlier this year and Manchester United were hoping to develop the young shot-stopper into a world class player.

However, things have not gone according to plan and Milinkovic-Savic revealed that he is no longer a Manchester United player and has joined Polish side Lechia.

He explained that he failed to get a work permit in England and while there were plans to loan him out to a club, nothing of importance happened and he terminated his contract with Manchester United, as he was unwilling to wait any longer.

The goalkeeper told Lechia’s official website: "I had to go back to Manchester [after my loan stint at Vojvodina], but there is a problem with a work permit in England.

“The case dragged on, unfortunately. I couldn't find a club where I could be loaned, despite a provision in my contract. Because it has been a number of days, I decided to terminate the contract with the English club and look for another employer.

“I am glad that I was able to quickly come to an agreement with Lechia."

Milinkovic-Savic, who has been handed the number 32 shirt and penned four-and-a-half-year deal with the Polish club, has represented Serbia at all levels of youth football and at 18, has already earned four caps for the Under-20 side.
