Leeds United head coach Steve Evans has no doubt that new signing Liam Bridcutt will be the best player in the Championship in the next two weeks and has pointed to the midfielder as proof of what his transfer market efforts can accomplish.

Evans was left frustrated during the emergency loan window as he could only add Bridcutt, signed from Sunderland, and missed out on a defender and a striker.

The former Rotherham United boss is clear that trying to do business in November is less than easy, but feels that with Bridcutt he has demonstrated what types of players he is chasing.

And Evans has tipped the Chelsea youth product to take the Championship by storm; Bridcutt made his Leeds' debut in the Whites' 1-0 loss at QPR on Saturday.

"We know what we need to do to the playing squad. Approaching the November window was never a good time to do that. We know what we need to do", he said on BBC Radio Leeds.

"We've affected it by one player.

"And I'll tell you what, in two weeks' time he's going to be the best player in the Championship, Bridcutt."

Evans has now vowed to press on with making the best of his current Leeds squad, however he feels there are clearly areas where he is lacking players of the required quality.

"But we have to work with what we are presented with and there are a lot of good players here. But there are not enough very good players and not enough good players", he added.
