Liverpool are eyeing a January move for unsettled Fiorentina defensive midfielder Mario Suarez, according to Italian outlet Calcio Mercato.

Suarez, who has three senior caps for Spain to his name, joined the Italian outfit in the summer from Atletico Madrid in a deal which saw Montenegrin international Stefan Savic moving in the opposite direction.

However, the 28-year-old has failed to hit the ground running at Fiorentina and is hence used sparingly by Viola boss Paulo Sousa.

Suarez has managed to make 10 appearances in all competitions for his new employers, scoring once.

The Spaniard, whose present deal with Fiorentina runs until 2019, would be expected to cost Liverpool €9m.
