Peterborough United owner Darragh MacAnthony has told Leeds United supremo Massimo Cellino he will not succeed in breaking apart the Football League's TV contract with Sky.

It has been claimed that Cellino is launching a legal challenge to the £100m a year deal and wants clubs to be able to sell their own TV rights, something which would lead to Leeds netting much more than at present.

However, there is fierce resistance to Cellino's reported plan, with the other 71 clubs opposed, as the split of TV rights ensures a more level playing field – and MacAnthony has vowed he will not get his way.

"Madness & Could hurt clubs like ours if he gets his way. But he won't", the Posh supremo wrote on Twitter.

Responding to a user on Twitter who questioned what Leeds owe other clubs, MacAnthony added: "He & his club are signed up to a thing called the FL Rodney which comes with contractual obligations/commitments."

It was further put to the Peteborough owner that Leeds are badly done to in terms of the current TV deal, while smaller clubs prosper.

"Sorry buddy, Totally disagree with that comment. Its £100k per TV game..Small clubs wouldn't mind loads of them", he replied.

Cellino has had numerous run-ins with the Football League over the course of his time at Leeds and banned Sky TV from covering a game against Derby County earlier in the season.

However, he later backed down and allowed the Sky cameras into Elland Road.
