Former Manchester United striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes it is important that FC Midtjylland's players don’t get blinded by the bright lights of Old Trafford.

The 20-time English champions will be travelling to Denmark to take on Midtjylland for the first leg of their Europa League round of 32 tie at the MCH Arena this Thursday.

While they are the reigning champions, Midtjylland are relative minnows when it comes to European football and even have a very short history in their country’s football as they were just formed in 1999.

Therefore a European tie with Manchester United is a big deal for the club, and Solskjaer feels that it is vital that the Midtjylland players don’t get intimidated by Old Trafford during the second leg as he has seen better players fold under the bright lights of the famous stadium.

When asked about the attitude Midtjylland should adopt with Manchester United, the Molde manager told the club’s YouTube channel: “It is going to be hard.

“It is going to be difficult, but the players need to go out there and give it everything. Go to Old Trafford, and not just be a spectator and a tourist.

“I played there against good teams with good players, and I had been surprised by the lack of belief in the opponent. They came to Old Trafford, looking at the stadium, and before they knew we were three-nil, four-nil up and win five-nil at the end.

“Very important they go in with belief.”

The two clubs have never met in Europe before, and despite their poor form Manchester United are odds on favourite sto see off Midtjylland over two legs.
