Leeds United boss Steve Evans feels that his side’s FA Cup opponents, Watford, have been one of the success stories of the season and has insisted that he never felt that the Hornets would be fighting for survival in the Premier League this term.
Watford are one of the teams that earned promotion from the Championship to the top tier this season, but unlike most promoted teams, they have taken to the Premier League like a duck to water.
With only 12 games left this season, the Hornets are ninth in the league table and are more or less away from the threat of relegation; Quique Sanches Flores has earned great plaudits for guiding his team to the top half of the table.
They will host Leeds in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Saturday, and ahead of the game Whites boss Evans termed the Hornets one of the success stories of the season.
He insisted that unlike others he never thought that Watford would fight for survival this term, as he was aware of the quality they have in the squad.

The Leeds boss, previewing the tie, said on LUTV: “I think for me, outside Leicester City, they are the story of the season.
“I think people though that when they come up, they would be one of the three in the relegation dogfight. I didn’t think for one minute that would be the case.”
With survival in the Premier League more or less guaranteed, it remains to be seen whether Watford go all out to win the FA Cup this season.
