Tottenham Hotspur winger Erik Lamela insists that the Europa League is a competition where they must continue to win and so the match against Fiorentina will be more than important for them tonight.

The Lilywhites are set to take on the Italian outfit in a round of 32 match later tonight with confidence being high after last weekend's 2-1 win against Manchester City.

While most of the players at White Hart Lane are relatively unused to the nature of opposition that they might expect at the Stadio Artemio Franchi tonight, the Argentine, by virtue of his two-year stint with AS Roma, knows the kind of threat that La Viola can pose.

However, the 23-year-old is quick to admit the fact that this will be a different competition where he is playing for a different team and so nothing can be taken for granted.

“We beat Fiorentina when I was at Roma, I remember that, but it’s another competition now and another team”, Lamela told his club's official website.

“We are Tottenham and we are a very good team so we need to play in the same way that we have been playing recently and I think we can beat them.

“It will be a difficult game, we know that from last season when we played against them, but we are playing very good football at the moment so we need to keep going like this. We need to do our best to continue playing like a team.

“Of course, we have to win because we want to keep going in the Europa League. It’s important for us to continue in this competition.”

Tottenham are currently placed second in the Premier League with 51 points from 26 matches, trailing league leaders Leicester City by just two points.
