Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink has stressed the need for winger Eden Hazard to step up and return back to his old self.

The Belgian, who had been one of Chelsea's top players for the last three seasons and was hugely influential in helping them win the Premier League title last season, has been in disappointing form this term.

The 25-year-old has in fact managed to find the back of the net only once in 33 appearances this season and has provided his team-mates with five assists.

The Pensioners, who have suffered terribly this season, seeing their former manager Jose Mourinho being sacked as a result and Hiddink being appointed as his replacement, therefore need their star player to regain his lost form.

Hiddink insists that he has had "small talks" with his man and is hopeful that Hazard will find his form soon.

"Hazard was in a difficult situation but he has to step up", Hiddink said at a press conference held this afternoon.

"We have had some small talks. I hope he will do it soon."

Referring to Hazard's solo run down the wing during the match against Paris Saint-Germain earlier this week in the Champions League, the veteran manager added: "I remember once he had a sprint on our right hand side.

"That's the old Hazard and we hope to see that more frequently."
