Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal feels his side could have scored more goals, following their 3-0 win over Shrewsbury Town in an FA Cup fifth round game.
The Red Devils, who headed into the game on the back of two consecutive losses in all competitions, took a 37th minute lead through Chris Smalling before Juan Mata doubled their advantage in first half injury time.
The Premier League giants then went 3-0 up at Greenhous Meadow, courtesy of Jesse Lingard’s goal on the hour mark.
Although Manchester United dropped their intensity after the 70th minute, owing to injury problems, the Old Trafford outfit comfortably saw off the efforts from the League One strugglers.
And Van Gaal, who thinks Manchester United could have won by a bigger margin, was however pleased with his side’s display against the Shrews.

“We kept the ball also and scored goals – we could have scored more I think.
“After the 70 minutes, with 10 men [when Will Keane was injured], it was more difficult, but I have seen phases where we kept the ball very easily, so I was very pleased with the performance of the players."
Manchester United will next face FC Midtjylland in a Europa League Round of 32 return leg at Old Trafford on Thursday; the first leg was won 2-1 by the Danish outfit last week.
