Leeds United head coach Steve Evans believes that Sol Bamba has proven a point over the last two games.

Bamba has been out of favour at Elland Road of late, with Evans preferring the centre-back pairing of Giuseppe Bellusci and Liam Cooper.

But Bamba played alongside Bellusci at the weekend in an FA Cup defeat at Watford, while the Italian's suspension meant he kept his place in a 1-1 draw with Fulham last night, partnering Cooper.

Bamba has been desperate for his chance to impress and has done just that, with Evans feeling the defender has proven a point over the last two games.

"I think he was good at Watford as well", Evans said in a press conference when asked about Bamba's good performance against the Cottagers.

"The captain has proved a point, which he tends to do. He's not a player who sulks, he's not a player who goes around with an attitude.

"I'm proud to work with Sol.

"He manages the dressing room and we manage it together in a real professional way.

"When he got the opportunity to play on Saturday with Liam missing I said 'go and have a good performance'.

"I think you only need to ask Troy Deeney and people like that if he had a good performance", the Leeds boss added.

Bamba will be confident of playing again for Leeds against Brighton next Monday, with Bellusci still suspended, but all bets are off whether he can keep the Italian out of the team after the trip to the south coast.
