FC Midtjylland full-back Andre Romer admits last night was one of the worst nights of his football career after Manchester United winger Memphis Depay tormented him at Old Trafford.

Manchester United staged a searing second half comeback with goals from debutant Marcus Rashford, Ander Herrera and Depay to book their place in the last 16 of the Europa League.

The Dutch winger was a threat all night with his twists and turns and put in delightful balls inside the box for his Manchester United team-mates. His trickery also led to Nikolay Bodurov’s own goal just before the break, which gave hope to the home side after Midtjylland scored a first half goal to stretch their lead in the last 16 tie.

Midtjylland right back Romer was on the receiving end of Depay’s trickery all night, and finally collected two yellow cards to take an early shower at Old Trafford.

The 22-year-old admits that Depay dominated him at Old Trafford, and concedes that he would quickly like to forget the game, as it was one of the worst nights of his football career.

Talking about his tormentor-in-chief, Romer told Ekstra Bladet: “He was really good and played in a totally different pace than in Herning.

“I think he went past me 10-12 times, and it might have been even more.

“I have never been so close to crying over a game of football like tonight [last night]. I feel absolutely terrible, and it’s a match I would like to forget as soon as possible, but unfortunately, I will probably remember this all my life.

“It’s not fun right now.”

Depay will want to build on last night’s performance and get his form going in the Premier League if he gets an opportunity to start against Arsenal on Sunday at Old Trafford.
