Southampton defensive midfielder Oriol Romeu has insisted that he enjoyed his stint at Chelsea, ahead of his side’s Premier League meeting with the Blues today.
The Spaniard failed to make his mark at Chelsea after joining the club from Barcelona in 2011.
Romeu, who suffered a nasty knee injury in 2012, spent loan spells at Valencia and Stuttgart during his time at Stamford Bridge.
The 24-year-old swapped Chelsea for Southampton in the summer, with his present side currently being higher in the league table than the Premier League champions.
And Romeu, who thanked Chelsea for helping him recover from the knee injury, however, insisted that he endured some difficult times too at the club.

“There were good times and some difficult times [at Chelsea]”, he told the Saints’ official site.
“Everyone knows that I had to go through a difficult injury, but I got better with the help of some great physios.
“It was a good family and obviously it was great to be at the club. I wanted to continue playing in the Premier League.
“I wanted to keep going and for me Southampton was a very good club. The way they were playing was very good and I’m very pleased with my decision.
“[The last game] was a chance to catch up with a few friends but I was there to do my very best like every other game because I want to get this club as high as I can.”
Romeu, who made 33 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea, scoring once, helped the London giants to one FA Cup, one Champions League and a Europa League.
He has thus far played 25 games for Southampton, scoring twice and providing an assist.
