Mauricio Pochettino has praised the Tottenham Hotspur fans for their support during the 2-1 win over Swansea City yesterday.

Spurs, who went into the game on the back of a 3-0 win over Fiorentina in the Europa League, fell behind at White Hart Lane, courtesy of Alberto Paloschi’s 19th minute strike.

But the home team had the last laugh as goals from Nacer Chadli and Danny Rose between the 70th and 77th minutes, both from Christian Eriksen’s corners, enabled the north Londoners to consolidate second spot in the Premier League and breathe down the neck of leaders Leicester City.

And Pochettino, who was thoroughly pleased with his side’s performance against the Swans, lauded the Tottenham faithful for the positive atmosphere they created, especially after their team went 1-0 down.

“It’s good to say it’s one of the best performances”, he told the club’s official site.

“The team is still improving and showed great character. That was fantastic.

“The atmosphere was also fantastic and the way the fans lifted the team when we conceded the goal was important for us so thanks to the supporters, they were brilliant and thanks to the players, the performance and effort was unbelievable, especially after a Europa League game.

“It’s never easy and we showed a lot of character.”

Tottenham, who are currently two points adrift of top spot in the league, will next face West Ham on Wednesday before taking on Arsenal three days later.
