Liverpool defender Kolo Toure has insisted that his side’s League Cup final defeat doesn’t mean that their season is over and feels that there is still a lot to play for.

While the Reds were second best to Manchester City at Wembley on Sunday for most of the game, they managed to take the final to a penalty shootout, where they eventually suffered the heartbreak of losing a cup final.

Jurgen Klopp’s men are not expected to finish in the top four this season, and many feel that Liverpool’s season is more or less over after their defeat at Wembley, but Reds defender Toure thinks otherwise.

He is confident that the cup final defeat will toughen up the Liverpool side and feels that there is still a lot of play for this season, including the Europa League, where they will face arch-rivals Manchester United in the Round of 16 later this month.

The Liverpool defender told the club’s official website: "You have to learn to lose sometimes before you win. We learn as a team together.

"The Europa League can save the season and the Premier League is not over yet.”

Liverpool will have an opportunity to avenge their cup final loss tomorrow night when Manchester City travel to Anfield for a league clash, and Toure is confident that the Reds can get three points from the fixture.

"It will be tough at Anfield [against City on Wednesday] but we can get three points against them.

"We have plenty of important games coming up."
