Rangers midfielder Andy Halliday believes that despite his side’s big lead at the top of the Scottish Championship, the title race will go down to the wire.

The Gers are currently sitting pretty at the top of the league table on 66 points, and have opened up an eleven-point lead over second placed Hibernian, making the Glasgow outfit odds on favourites to win the Scottish second tier this season.

For a while the race looked tight, but Rangers have been on a roll over the last few weeks and Hibernian have lost some steam over the course of February.

However, Halliday insisted that his side are not getting overconfident about winning the league and are taking each game on its own merit, without looking too far ahead in the season.

The Rangers man said in a press conference: “We are in a strong position with ten games to go.

“But we are not cocky yet, and are going into every game with the mentality of picking up three points.”

The midfielder is also not counting Hibernian or Falkirk out of the title race yet and is still expecting a tight finish to the season despite their eleven-point lead at the top.

“Hibs are a good team, Falkirk are a good team and it has been a tight title race all the way through the season and I’m sure it will go down to the wire like it was always going to.”
