Leeds United boss Steve Evans admits that it is better he starts concentrating on helping his side to win games rather than becoming a PR spokesman for the club.

A 4-0 pasting at the hands of Brighton on Monday night pushed Leeds down to 18th in the league table, and they are currently on a run of just one win out of their last eleven Championship games.

Evans was asked not to speak to the media after the debacle at Brighton and Leeds owner Massimo Cellino told the club manager to talk less and concentrate more on his team's performances.

The Leeds boss admits that he has got carried away in the past and has allowed himself to become a PR vehicle for the club, something he feels he doesn’t need to do at Elland Road.

He conceded that he needs to cut down on the rhetoric and concentrate on the football as he admits that Leeds need to get a win under their belt badly at the moment.

The Leeds boss said in a press conference: “One thing I have learned in the last few days that I don’t need to be a PR vehicle for Leeds United.

“They are big and bold enough to speak at the highest level, when they choose to and when they feel they need to.

“It’s a fair point that I have allowed myself to discuss matters that don’t involve getting the points the next game.

“The one thing we all have to try to do here is to start winning some football matches because it’s only one win in eleven.

“I have to keep my focus on that.”

Evans has spoken about building a Leeds team good enough to challenge for promotion next season, but the club are in danger of getting sucked into the relegation quagmire if their form doesn’t improve soon.
