Leeds United legend Eddie Gray was happy to see the Whites players show real determination to dig in and get a 2-0 win last night at Cardiff City.

Goals from Souleymane Doukara and Mirco Antenucci helped Leeds get a crucial away win over the Bluebirds at the Cardiff City Stadium and push themselves up the Championship table.

After a poor run of form, which included a 4-0 thrashing at Brighton last week, Steve Evans’ men have picked up some momentum with two wins in a row against Bolton and Cardiff City respectively.

It was Leeds’ first league double over Cardiff City since 1984, and Gray was pleased to see the grit and determination on display from the Whites players to come away with all three points from their trip to Wales.

The Leeds legend said on LUTV after the match: “It’s a good victory.

“As Leeds United fans know, it’s not a happy hunting ground for us.

"It was a hard-fought victory and we rode our luck a little bit; when you come to these places, that’s what you got to do, you have to dig in.

“Steve will be pleased with how his players dug in there and saw out the victory.”

The win helped Leeds move up to 15th in the league table on 44 points, and they will next take on Blackburn in an away Championship clash on Saturday.
