Tottenham Hotspur full-back Kieran Trippier has admitted that playing in the Europa League is a great experience for him and the 25-year-old has revealed that his side will be looking to press Borussia Dortmund from the off in a bid to return from Germany with an important win.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are in action at the Westfalenstadion on Thursday night for the first leg of their Europa League Round of 16 clash against Dortmund.

Trippier signed for Spurs in the summer from Burnley for a fee reported to be in the region of £3.5m and has since managed to make 17 first team appearances.

The 25-year-old has acknowledged that playing in the Europa League is very different than playing for Burnley and the right-back has expressed his delight at playing against teams from different countries and varied styles.

Speaking in an interview with Spurs TV, Trippier said: “Yes it is a totally different style of play to when I was at Burnley and like I said it is just a great experience to play in the Europa League, playing against teams of different countries, different players, different style of players.

"But yes, it has been enjoyable and hopefully there are many more games.”

The defender also acknowledged that Thomas Tuchel’s side have quality players in every position, but insisted that even Spurs have players of exceptional quality too.

Trippier also highlighted that the White Hart Lane outfit like to press and is hopeful that their game plan will work against the German side.

“Yes, you can see that they have quality in every position, but so have we.

"So hopefully, yes they drew with Bayern Munich, but we have been focussing on them and hopefully we come away with a win – an important one.

“Of course, it’s going to be attacking football.

"We love to play pressing and hopefully we will be going there, pressing from the start point, make them feel uncomfortable and hopefully put in a good performance and bring it back to White Hart Lane. “
