Mauricio Pochettinio has urged Tottenham Hotspur to believe that they are capable of overturning the 3-0 deficit heading in to their Europa League Round of 16 second leg clash against Borussia Dortmund tonight.

A Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang strike and a brace from Marco Reus handed Spurs a forgettable loss in Germany last week.

Tottenham now have a huge mountain to climb if they want to progress to the quarter-finals of the Europa League at the expense of Dortmund.

But Pochettino wants his side to have the belief that they can overturn Dortmund’s commanding advantage by putting in a strong display at White Hart Lane.

“In football you always have to show belief and have belief”, he told Spurs TV.

“Being 3-0 down, it will be a difficult game against Borussia Dortmund, one of the best teams in Europe.

“But we need to show belief, we need to show it [the 3-0 loss in the first leg] was an accident and we need to play much better.

“In football anything can happen.”

Pochettino went on to add that Tottenham allowing Dortmund to dictate terms resulted in their side losing the first leg 3-0 at the Westfalenstadion.

“It is a difficult result we need to put out because we were not good enough [at Dortmund]”, he continued.

“We didn’t play well and that was the problem, we allowed them to play better than us and we didn’t play like we normally do and it was one of the reasons why Dortmund outplayed us.”

Tottenham, who return to winning ways by beating Aston Villa 2-0 in the Premier League last weekend, are currently second in the standings with 58 points.
