Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera feels it is important that the team repay the faith the fans have showed in them over the past few months by putting in a good performance at Old Trafford on Thursday.

Louis van Gaal’s side are scheduled to host Liverpool for the second leg of their Europa League’s round of 16 tie tonight, as they try to overcome a 2-0 deficit, having lost the first leg at Anfield last week.

But having already beaten Jurgen Klopp’s side four times prior to the loss, the Spaniard is hoping that his team will be able to do that once again, and make their fans happy, insisting that playing at home will be an added advantage.

“We know [what this means to the fans] because we have done it already. I know how the next week is going to be if we beat them, how happy our fans will be and how they show that to you”, the 26-year-old was quoted as saying by Manchester United’s official website.

We want to make them happy and make them proud because they always support us and travel all over to do so.

“We have to give them a lot and this game is a big opportunity to give them a little bit so it is our dream, our intention – win on Thursday and give them good moments!", the former Athletic Bilbao player added.

Currently sixth in the Premier League table, winning the Europa League is seen as perhaps Manchester United's best hope of booking Champions League football for next season.
