Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola has conceded that he was displeased with his side’s performance in their 1-0 loss to Atletico Madrid in their Champions League semi-final first leg last night.

The Bavarians, who are gunning for a treble of the Bundesliga, German Cup and the Champions League this season, lost the contest at Vicente Calderon, courtesy of Saul Niguez’s brilliant goal in the 11th minute.

The defeat put an end to Bayern Munich’s 10-game unbeaten run in all competitions.

And Guardiola, who praised Niguez’s strike, however, insisted that his side were to blame for keeping backing off the Spaniard.

The incoming Manchester City boss then added that that Bayern Munich will have to up their tempo for the return leg at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday.

“We have to play at a different pace in the second leg”, Guardiola told UEFA’s official site.

“Their goal was brilliant, but it came from our mistake: we kept standing off him.

“I'm not happy with how we played. If we let them run and win fouls, it will be hard. It's not a good result.”

Bayern Munich, who are currently seven points clear at the top of the Bundesliga table, will next face Borussia Monchengladbach in a home league fixture on Saturday.
