Leeds United head coach Steve Evans says that he expects a decision over his future at the club very soon after he held positive talks with the club's owner Massimo Cellino.

Evans, who was brought into Leeds by Cellino in October to succeed Uwe Rosler, has guided the Whites away from relegation worries and up into the upper half of the Championship table.

However, the Scot's contract at Elland Road expires in the summer and he has not yet been offered a new deal to continue in his post.

Evans is desperate to stay and feels that Cellino does appreciate progress has been made. The Leeds boss revealed he held a meeting with Cellino on Friday and is set to speak again with the Italian soon.

"I had a positive conversation with the president yesterday", Evans said on LUTV, when asked about his future.

"It doesn't mean I am staying, obviously, but there was full recognition that there has been a lot of good work done."

And Evans expects Cellino to quickly come to a decision, with another meeting pencilled into the diary.

"I don't think it's dragging on", he said of the decision.

"I had a first stage conversation with the president. There was a lot of good stuff and things that he wants to see improved. We agreed to reconvene in the early stage of the week.

"I think that the decision isn't too far away from what the president has decided."

Leeds finished their Elland Road campaign earlier today with a 2-1 defeat to Charlton Athletic.
