Bastian Schweinsteiger has wished Manchester United legend Eric Cantona a happy birthday, explaining he has always looked up to the former Red Devil.

Cantona, who retired from the game at the age of just 30, turned 50 years old today and Schweinsteiger has been keen to send his best wishes to the Frenchman.




Schweinsteiger, who joined Manchester United last summer from Bayern Munich, posted a photograph of Cantona in action for the Red Devils on Twitter.

And he wrote: "Happy Birthday to a legendary player I've always looked up to!
 


"Wishing you all the best, Eric Cantona!" he added.

Schweinsteiger missed the end of Manchester United's season with injury, but recently received positve news and is expected to be fit to turn out for Germany at Euro 2016 this coming summer.

Euro 2016 will be played in Cantona's homeland of France and Schweinsteiger's Germany, who won the World Cup in Brazil in 2014, will start strongly fancied to scoop up the European crown.
