Former Manchester United goalkeeper Mark Bosnich believes Ryan Giggs should stay at Manchester United and learn the managerial ropes under Jose Mourinho.

Louis van Gaal was sacked as Manchester United boss on Monday night, but the club are keen to retain the services of assistant manager Giggs in some role next season.

While Rui Faria is expected to become assistant boss once Mourinho takes charge of the club at some point this week, Giggs has been offered a reduced role and the Welshman is yet to make a decision.

Many feel the Manchester United legend should look to earn his managerial stripes away from Old Trafford since he has been overlooked for the top post again, but Bosnich believes otherwise.

He feels it would have been a huge risk if a managerial greenhorn such as Giggs had been handed the reins of the club and feels the Welshman should grab the opportunity to learn under Mourinho.

The former Red Devil told beIN Sport: “I just think that where Manchester United are at this point, it would probably be a risk to give him the top job.

“But in my opinion it would be better for him to learn from one of the best managers in the world.”

Giggs is expected to hold talks with Mourinho and the club before he makes a decision on his future.
