Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone has rejected Paris Saint-Germain’s initial offer to join them as he remains keen to continue at the Vicente Calderon, according to Sky Italia.

The Argentine’s Atletico Madrid side have suffered heartbreak in the Champions League final twice in the last three seasons and on both occasions it was their bitter rivals Real Madrid who had the last laugh.




Simeone has earned praise for making Atletico Madrid punch above their weight in La Liga and challenge the duopoly of Real Madrid and Barcelona over Spanish football in recent years.

His work at with Los Colchoneros has attracted the attention of some top clubs in Europe and PSG are keen to take him to the French capital in the coming months.
 


PSG supremo Nasser Al-Khelaifi recently revealed his bitter disappointment at his club’s failure to beat Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-finals and there are suggestions that Laurent Blanc might be replaced this summer.

However, for the moment Simeone has rejected the first offer from the Parisians and wants to continue his work at Atletico Madrid this season.

The Argentine has urged more help from the board in terms of funds in order to continue to challenge Barcelona and Real Madrid, but his intention remains to continue as their manager.

It remains to be seen whether the situation changes in the coming days and PSG come back with another offer for Simeone.
