Dutch fitness coach Raymond Verheijen has thrown criticism towards Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino regarding the fitness of Spurs' players during the European Championship.

The 44-year-old is an outspoken critic of Premier League managers and Arsene Wenger has often been his subject of ire as he feels the Frenchman’s archaic fitness regime has contributed to Arsenal’s poor injury record over the years.

He has often cited Aaron Ramsey’s injury troubles as testament to Wenger’s flaws and famously said that Cesc Fabregas left Arsenal at the right time otherwise he would have been destroyed.

However, Wenger’s north London counterpart Pochettino has come under attack from the Dutchman, and Verheijen blamed the Tottenham boss for his side’s decline in form towards the end of last season.

And he pointed out that two teams, England and Belgium, who under-performed in the European Championship, have a number of Spurs players in their squad.

He took to Twitter and wrote: “Not surprised to see that 8 Tottenham players were part of the 2 biggest EURO2016 failures: England & Belgium.”

Pochettino is known for a tough fitness regime and his training sessions were believed to be demanding on the Tottenham players last season.
