Marseille have agreed the terms of a contract with Tottenham Hotspur forward Clinton Njie ahead of his move back to France.

The forward is set to return to France in the coming days after spending just one injury-marred season at White Hart Lane, with not a single Premier League start under his belt.

Initially reluctant to leave Tottenham, the Marseille hierarchy worked hard behind the scenes to convince Njie to move to the Stade Velodrome this summer, and have also agreed a deal with Spurs.

Njie is expected to join Marseille initially on loan with an automatic option to make the move permanent for €7m after a handful number of games, and according to L’Equipe, Marseille have also agreed the terms of a contract with the player.

Despite late interest from Lyon in trying to get their former player back, Marseille have secured the agreement for the signature of Njie and the deal is expected to get over the line soon.

Njie has already made all the travel arrangements to return to France, and is set to undergo a medical with Marseille ahead of finalising his switch to the Stade Velodrome.

Tottenham made it clear to the forward that it was only going to get difficult for him to get into the team next season after the arrival of new striker Vincent Janssen.
