Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has revealed that he has introduced some new drills in training as the Reds prepare for the new season.

The German manager took over from Brendan Rodgers in October last year, as a result of which he did not get the chance to coach his side over the course of pre-season.

This year is different though, with the former Borussia Dortmund boss overseeing the Reds' training programme, introducing new drills for the players to sink their teeth into.

Klopp remains confident about the new techniques, insisting that the drills will help to prepare the players.

“[There are some new drills] because we didn’t have time to work with the boys last season.

"For the boys, I think most of things we do now are new but it will help 100 per cent so it’s good”, Klopp told his club's official website.

“I love these sessions. The most important thing is that you can react earlier and find your organisation earlier than other teams."

Organisation, according to Klopp, will be a key aspect of their game next term, because they will have to do necessary defending, in spite of working on keeping the ball for longer periods.

“The longer we have the ball, the less we have to think about how we will defend, but we will have to defend so in this moment we need to be perfectly organised.

“The higher we want to defend, the more organised we need to be, so that’s what we work on.

"That’s what I really love in pre-season, that you can work on these things twice a day – perfect.”

The Reds will kick off their domestic campaign against Arsenal on 14th August.
