Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has refused to speculate about the future of Southampton defender Jose Fonte and has also remained coy on any additional business this month.

The Manchester United hierarchy have backed Mourinho with vast sums of money this summer, and the Portuguese bought in Eric Bailley, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Paul Pogba before even the season started last weekend.

While he has managed to sign the four key players he identified for the window, there is speculation that he is keen to bring Southampton defender Fonte to Old Trafford in the last couple weeks of the transfer window.

The Manchester United boss is not keen on any rumour mongering about the Portuguese defender’s future at St. Mary’s, but refused to deny that there could be more incoming business at Old Trafford this month.

On rumours surrounding Fonte, Mourinho said in a press conference: “I don’t care.”

On any further transfer dealings until the end of the window, Mourinho said: “The market is open until the 31st August, but I am happy with the squad.

“And I keep saying that I won’t talk about other players.”

Despite all the rumours, Fonte is expected to be involved for Southampton at Old Trafford tomorrow against Manchester United.
