Slaven Bilic says that West Ham United did not lodge a bid with Bournemouth for Callum Wilson, despite the fact that he rates the player.

West Ham were claimed to have slapped in a £20m bid for both Wilson and his then team-mate Matt Ritchie earlier this summer.

Bournemouth were said to have knocked back the offer, but Bilic insists no bid was ever made for Wilson in the first place.

"There was never a bid for Callum Wilson from us", he told a press conference this afternoon.

"Every player is linked with West Ham, but he is a good player and he showed that. He was injured, but he is back now and he showed he is a big threat last year", Bilic explained.

"Not only with his hat-trick against us, but with his quality."

West Ham are due to host Bournemouth in a Premier League clash this coming Sunday, where they will be looking for their first win of the season after going down against Chelsea.

Bilic's side will also need to overcome the effects of a midweek trip to Romania.

The Hammers took on Astra Giurgiu in the first leg of their Europa League playoff tie and headed home to England with a 1-1 draw in their pocket, which makes them favourites to progress past the Romanian outfit.
