Aston Villa owner Dr Tony Xia has revealed that the club have not yet received the full £32.5m fee for Christian Benteke from Liverpool.

The Merseyside giants forked out the substantial fee last summer to take Benteke from Villa Park to Anfield.

However, Benteke has just completed a switch to Crystal Palace, with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp giving him the cold shoulder after taking charge at Anfield in October last year.

And Xia has revealed that due to the nature of the payment structure, Liverpool have yet to finish paying for the player they have just sold.

Asked whether Villa have received the full £32.5m for Benteke yet, Xia said on Twitter: "No. Paid by several payments."

The news effectively means Liverpool will continue to pay for Benteke even though he is no longer at the club.

However, the Reds are not making a big loss on the Belgium international.

Indeed, they have pocketed an initial £27m fee from Crystal Palace for Benteke, while add-ons mean the final total could reach £32m.
