Southampton boss Claude Puel has admitted that the club could make further additions to their squad before the transfer window slams shut.

The Saints have been strongly linked with snapping up Lille attacking midfielder Sofiane Boufal, but more than just the Morocco international could land at St. Mary's.

Puel, speaking following his side's 1-1 draw at home against David Moyes' Sunderland, was quoted as saying by the BBC: "Perhaps another player will come to Southampton but nothing is signed.

"It is a possibility to take one or two to add energy to the squad."

Southampton fell behind at home against Sunderland with ten minutes left in their Premier League fixture this afternoon, as Jermain Defoe struck from the penalty spot following a Jose Fonte foul on the striker.

But Puel's men drew level just five minutes later as Jay Rodriguez hit a long-range effort which went under Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford's body, spoiling a good display from the backup custodian.

The draw represents Southampton's second of the new Premier League season and leaves them on two points from three games.
