Aston Villa are in advanced talks with fellow Championship outfit Bristol City over the signing of Jonathan Kodjia, according to the BBC.

The striker, who is yet to score a goal in four Championship outings this season, was in lethal form last term.

Kodjia netted 18 times in 45 league appearances last term, and hence aroused the interest of several clubs including Aston Villa, Hull City and Derby County.

However, it seems that the Villains are the frontrunners in the chase for the Ivory Coast international, with the Claret and Blues being in advanced talks with Bristol City to sign the 26-year-old in a deal that could rise to £15m.

Kodija, who has a further two years remaining on his present deal with Bristol City, joined the club from French outfit Angers last summer.
