New Rangers signing Philippe Senderos has revealed that the decision to join the Gers was a "no brainer" for him.

The Scottish Premiership side confirmed the signing of the former Arsenal player earlier today, making him put pen-to-paper to a one-year deal.

The 31-year-old, who was a free agent this summer, had been training with Mark Warburton's team ahead of a proposed move.

He comes with vast experience, having tasted FA Cup success with Arsenal during the 2004/05 season and has earned 57 caps for Switzerland.

He has played in countries such as Italy and Spain in clubs such as AC Milan and Valencia and was also involved with English top division football for a long time.

Speaking about his excitement at the prospect of joining his new team-mates, Senderos said that he can't wait to "crack on". It was an opportunity of a lifetime and once it came, the defender insists, he simply had to sign.

“I’m delighted to have finally signed, I’m really pleased and I can’t wait to crack on", Senderos told his new club's official website.

"As soon as I had the opportunity to come up here and train I said “yes”, and now I’m really happy to have signed.

“It is a massive club. I went back to Switzerland and I wanted to be at the Euros; unfortunately it didn’t work out, but when I had the chance to come up here and train and join such as big club, it was a no brainer for me.”
