Liverpool flop Mario Balotelli has completed a move to join Ligue 1 club Nice on a free transfer on deadline day.

The 26-year-old striker arrived in France earlier today to undergo a medical, but Nice were still in talks with Liverpool over the terms of their agreement for the Italian.

And Liverpool finally decided to allow the player, who still had two years left on his contract with the Reds, to move to the French outfit on a free transfer today.

After a difficult spell at Liverpool and AC Milan, the Italian will be looking to revive his career in France and Nice co-owner Jean-Pierre Rivere is confident that Nice can provide the atmosphere that will help Balotelli to flourish.

He told the club’s official website: “We are very pleased to welcome Mario.

“We hope that at Nice, in a family-like atmosphere, he will find the real pleasure of playing the game.

“We know him and he knows us, and that nothing will come easy but with his desire and hopefully from the support of our fans, we will allow him to flourish, and his talent could come to the service of the team.”

Liverpool paid a fee of around €20m to sign the mercurial Italian from AC Milan in 2014, but he scored just four goals in 28 appearances for the Reds during his only season at Anfield.
