Former Real Madrid and Liverpool defender Alvaro Arbeloa is being put through his medical paces ahead of his move to West Ham on deadline day.

Arbeloa left Real Madrid earlier after his contract with the club expired at the end of last season, and has been available on a free transfer this summer. .




And it seems the former Liverpool defender is set to return to England as according to Spanish daily El Confidencial, the veteran Spaniard has a medical under way with the east Londoners.

There have been noises coming out from West Ham today that the club are looking to bring in one more player on deadline day, and it seems Arbeloa is their man.
 


The 33-year-old is expected to agree personal terms and sign a contract before the window slams shut later tonight in order to allow West Ham the time to register his arrival.

A product of the Real Madrid academy, Arbeloa turned out for Liverpool 66 times in the Premier League before returning to the Bernabeu in 2009.

He won two European Cups with Real Madrid and a Spanish league title amongst other honours during his time in the Spain capital.
