Rangers hitman Martyn Waghorn was delighted to feature in his side's 7-0 friendly romp over Northern Irish side Linfield today.

Gers boss Mark Warburton opted for his side to play a friendly over the international break rather than put their feet up, as he looks for them to be match sharp for the Old Firm clash against Celtic on 10th September.

Rangers made short work of their opponents in the friendly fixture, with Kenny Miller putting the Gers ahead with just ten minutes on the clock. Niko Kranjcar made it 2-0 in the 24th minute, while Rob Kiernan made it 3-0 just two minutes later.

Miller had his second one minute after that as Warburton's men cut through Linfield, while a further Miller goal in the 30th minute meant the visitors headed in at the break 5-0 ahead.

The 52nd minute saw Miller make it 6-0, while Waghorn was then brought on for Josh Windass in the 56th minute and Joe Garner scored his first Rangers goal in the 74th minute to push the scoreline to 7-0, which was how it finished.

Waghorn has been out of action since injuring his hamstring in Rangers' opening day Premiership draw with Hamilton, but is now being eased back in time for the Celtic game and the striker is delighted.

He wrote on Twitter: "Great to be back."

It remains to be seen whether Warburton will throw Waghorn straight into the fire of an Old Firm game.
