Former Celtic striker Charlie Nicholas believes Rangers boss Mark Warburton is almost certain to start new signing Philippe Senderos this coming weekend in the Old Firm clash.

Brendan Rodgers' Bhoys are due to host Warburton's Gers on Saturday, as the two fierce rivals lock horns for the first time in the Scottish Premiership this season.

Concerns have been raised about the strength of Rangers' defence, but Warburton added former Arsenal and AC Milan centre-back Senderos before the transfer window slammed shut.

And Nicholas feels the Swiss star will be handed a start by Warburton, while he also mused over whether the Gers could switch to a back three.

"With Senderos, he probably has to come in", Nicholas said on Sky Sports News HQ on Monday.

"The one thing Rangers don't have and haven't sorted out is pace at the back.

"I think Senderos must play", the 54-year-old explained.

"Mark Warburton doesn't really play three at the back, but he might have to think about Rangers' lack of pace at the back.

"And that's why I think Celtic have an advantage."

Rangers put Celtic out of the Scottish Cup last season at the semi-final stage, but were then beaten in the final by Hibernian.

Celtic have started the new season in fine form by winning all three of their Premiership games so far.

Rangers, who have played four league matches, have won two and drawn two.
