Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that Christian Eriksen has put pen to paper on a new contract.

The Denmark international midfielder has signed a deal running until the summer of 2020 to secure his future with the White Hart Lane outfit and end speculation.

Eriksen attracted interest from Italian giants Inter over the summer transfer window, but Spurs have sent out a strong message over their intention to keep the former Ajax man.

The midfielder is also happy to stay and sees a bright future. He told Spurs TV: "There is a great future at this place and I wouldn't have signed if I didn't see that.

"It's a very good group, players who connect with each other, staff who connect with the players", he continued.

Eriksen was a key man last term as Spurs mounted a genuine challenge for the Premier League title, ultimately finishing third as Leicester City scooped up the crown.

The north London club are back in the Champions League this season as a result and Eriksen will be looking forward to starring in Europe's elite tournament, with Spurs due to play their home games at Wembley.
