Christian Eriksen's agent has revealed the overlooked clue which confirmed his client had no intention of leaving Tottenham Hotspur this summer – that he moved to a new house with his girlfriend in the middle of the transfer window.

The Denmark international recently put pen to paper on a new contract with Spurs, increasing his weekly salary from in the region of £30,000 up to £75,000.

Eriksen was linked with Italian giants Inter towards the end of the transfer window, however his agent Martin Schoots has indicated that the Denmark international never had any intention of leaving Spurs, a club he was sure were set for big things when he signed.

And the agent he revealed that a house move on the part of Eriksen and his girlfriend should have been seen as clear evidence that his client had no intention of leaving White Hart Lane this summer.

"Christian is very happy at Tottenham, both as a player and as a human being with his girlfriend", Schoots explained to Danish daily BT.

"They moved to a new home a month ago and that does not happen in the middle of the summer transfer window if you have any doubts about whether you are happy to be somewhere", the agent continued.

"He wanted to go to Tottenham three years ago and that even though there were other clubs that were interested, including a big German club that could guarantee him Champions League football.

"But Christian was convinced that it had to be Tottenham.

"He is still there.

"And he is looking forward to once again being able to play in the Champions League and to play in the club's new stadium in two years – it's just a good match."

Eriksen was a key man for Spurs last season as they mounted a serious challenge for the Premier League title.

And Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino will hope with his contract renewal done and dusted that the Dane can fully focus on replicating last season's form in the new campaign.
