Leeds United right-back Gaetano Berardi has revealed that he will be returning to the first team fold soon after recovering from his injury.

The Leeds defender has been struggling with injuries since the end of last season, and his pre-season preparations were also not ideal as he took some time to get back into the groove.

However, he was declared fit at the start of the season, but suffered another injury on the opening day of the season and was brought off after just 22 minutes at Queens Park Rangers.

Since then the defender has been again on the recovery path, and admits that the last few months have been torrid because of his constant struggle to stay fit.

However, the Swiss revealed that he is close to recovering from the injury, and is expecting to return to the team later this month.

The defender told BBC Radio Leeds: “Now I am feeling good.

“The last two weeks were very bad for me, but now I am good.

"I think in the next ten days I will be ready.

“It was very difficult; the last ten months because of injuries were very bad for me.

"The players and the staff helped me and now I can say that I will be ready to start a game [soon].”

Berardi also missed a large chunk of last season due to injuries, and again suffered setbacks towards the end of the campaign.
