Mauricio Pochettino believes that Tottenham Hotspur's summer signing Vincent Janssen is a player with fantastic work rate and will suit his team perfectly.

The north Londoners worked hard to thrash out a deal with Dutch side AZ Alkmaar for Janssen and eventually reached an agreement to take him to England.

In spite of his failing to find the back of the net yet for Spurs, the manager has full faith in the Dutchman's abilities and has praised his more than impressive work rate.

Reflecting on the events that transpired leading up to Janssen's transfer, Pochettino revealed that they had monitored the player for six to seven months in Holland, while he was playing for AZ Alkmaar.

And Pochettino was soon convinced that Janssen would fit his team like a glove.

“His work rate is fantastic, he’s very young and he also has huge potential", Pochettino told his club's official website.

"When we followed him for six, seven months in Holland, he impressed us.

"It was ideal to sign him to compete with Harry [Kane], we needed one striker more and he’s perfect for us."

Janssen progressed through Dutch outfit Feyenoord's youth academy before making his first team debut for Almere City in 2013.

The 2015/16 season was a breakthrough one for the youngster when he managed a total of 32 goals in 49 matches overall.
